about

"Sailing Away" was one of the first pieces of music Xani ever wrote for The Twoks back when the duo only performed instrumental music. It wasn't until 2009 that Xani began to sing songs she had written for the first time.

Although The Twoks' live set includes many songs that Xani sings, the duo also incorporate epic instrumentals tracks many of which are completely improvised on the spot.

This LP features two well-loved instrumental tracks - "Sailing Away" and "This Little Town". When Xani and Mark went into the studio to record this LP, they wanted to try to capture as much of the raw, exciting energy of a live show. They recorded to tape capturing a full twenty-two minutes of music all in one take. The idea was to start with "Sailing Away", improvise and then lead into "This Little Town".

The Twoks had three goes and in the end, they went with their first take. This is what you hear with "Sailing Away", "Improv 1" and "This Little Town". "Improv 2" is an excerpt from their second take and Xani and Mark just loved it so much that they decided to include it at a bonus track.

This LP was launched at Northcote Social Club in July, 2013. It is one of their favourite recordings yet as it gets right to the heart of who The Twoks truly are.
